Topscores voor het Spaanse domein Nin i Ortiz uit Priorat

99/100, 98/100 en 97/100!
Dat zijn de laatste hallucinante topscores voor Nin i Ortiz uit Priorat!

Mooie verrassing: net toen Johan de voorbije week op het domein was, kwamen de topscores binnen van Nin i Ortiz bij Parker.
En zo werd het alsnog een feestje… ?

2 jaar geleden haalde hun Mas d’en Caçador 2020 de topscore van 100/100!
De 2022 bevestigt nu zijn heldenstatus en scoort een bijna perfecte 99/100.
De meest zeldzame van de 3 is de ‘La Rodeda’, met een productie van nauwelijks 380 flessen, die ook de topscore van 98/100 krijgt.

Ook de Coma d’en Romeu 2022 met zijn 97/100 heeft bij ons een blijvende indruk nagelaten.

Coma d’en Romeu 2022: 97/100
The 2022 La Coma d’en Romeu has the classical nose from the vineyard, a combination of ripe peach, aromatic herbs, a touch of smoky bacon, ink and licorice, intoxicating and characterful. The wine has a very strong personality and is very different from the rest, the wild character of the place. It has a medium to full-bodied palate with abundant, slightly dusty tannins. It comes in at 14.07% alcohol, a pH of 3.4 and 4.27 grams of acidity. 2,400 bottles were filled in April 2024.

La Rodeda 2022: 98/100
The 2022 La Rodeda, a very steep and stony vineyard, which, like the others, is being expanded with new vines to extend its life and also to protect the old vines. They work with this wine to fine-tune the barrel they use, and in the end, they settled with a 300-liter barrel, quite well-seasoned and more neutral, which respects more of the character of the wine. This is a cooler place, and the wine also shows fresher and has more acidity; it's also Garnacha Peluda, which has a different tannin profile. The wine has power and concentration, but the sensation is very balanced, vibrant and very tasty. I think this vintage is getting closer to the true character of the place. For me, this is the finest vintage of this wine so far. Only 380 bottles were filled in April 2024.

Mas d’en Caçador 2022: 99/100
I found the 2022 Nit de Nin Mas d’en Caçador to be very closed and austere, a little shy, serious and harmonious. The palate is very solid, seamless and powerful with really refined and elegant tannins. It was produced with a blend of 66% Garnacha, 31% Cariñena and 3% white varieties. As much as I liked the 2021, I think 2022 is a more complete and serious wine. It's still young and undeveloped and should be long lived. 2,800 bottles produced. It was bottled in April 2024.

Absolute toppers!

Ze werken reeds meer dan 20 jaar met zijn tweeën op hun moeilijk toegankelijke leisteenhellingen in Porrera (Priorat). Sinds het begin volledig in biodynamie.
Met de hulp van 2 muilezels worden al de wijngaarden van oude wijnstokken Garnatxa en Carinyena bewerkt. Een niet te onderschatten werk! Ze werken met veel respect voor hun terroir en hun omgeving.

Hiermee zijn hun wijnen zowat de hoogst scorende van heel Spanje!

2022 was een warm jaar in Priorat, maar toch blijven de wijnen toonbeelden van elegantie en finesse. Wat er geproduceerd is, is natuurlijk wel de absolute top van Priorat en van Spanje.

En... trouwens nog een weetje voor de kenners: Ester is van in het begin de oenologe van Clos Erasmus, die intussen ook al 4 keer 100/100 heeft gescoord.
